It is simple; Long Distance is a commodity. With the growth of technology, networks of the major long-distance carriers are virtually identical. AT&T's network provides the same long-distance service as AT&T, Sprint, Opex/Global Crossing, PowerNet Global, Covista, etc. At times, the carriers share their networks with each other. Rates are determined like any other commodity on the market; it's simply a matter of supply and demand amongst the carriers. Every carrier is looking for more market share. As a volume broker, LDPC-Merritel has contracts with multiple carriers which gives us access to the lowest rates. Even more important, it puts us in a bargaining position within the market. Our bargaining power is strong because we represent associations, (large and small) which translates into multiple accounts. It's really that simple. |
